Dec 15  - Sid VanHouten  Got out for some perch today, Friday 12/15, 9am - noon.  Fished the Edison canal.  Was doing ok until the clouds rolled in and the wind really kicked up.  It was breezy all morning, but much worse after about 11am or so.  Fish stopped eating.  Took home 12 between 9-10".  Others included a few dinks, small smallmouth, sunfish, rock bass, shad.  Fishing the canal is fun...never know what you might pull up.  Perch were near bottom, but not feeding on the bottom.  My slip sinker bottom line rig did nothing.  2-3" inches off on the lower spreader hook seemed to be the ticket.

Dec 10  - Sid VanHouten  Ditto John...I was "fishing" for a report today on Perch as well.  Drove over to L.E. Metro to check the ramp/ice situation.  Two docks are still in and three boats were in the water.  I didn't stick around long enough to see anything come in.  Water is all open by the ramps.  Other canals in the area all seem to still have ice on them.  Maybe the warmer weather will clear that up.

Dec 10

Oct 9 - Sid VanHouten   Fished perch Sat 10/7 mid morning.  Tried a few spots around boblo w/no success...until I moved WAY up shallow.   Not great, but a decent catch 5-10 feet off the shore in about 4 feet of water.  Kept about 20 in the 8-10" range for 2 hours fishing.

Oct 4  Mike Sorensen  Mark Mullins & I fished Sunday and Tuesday by the powderkeg and caught buckets full of perch. Some sorting but all in all a lot of nice fish.  I have been in the process of moving so I haven't been on all summer. Will renew soon Mike.  John how are ya.  I can now see the Trenton Stacks from my house.  Look out fish.

Oct 2  Jerry Hinton  Sept 27 and Oct 1 - Fishing the past few days have been slowest of the entire summer. Fished south of the Erie Metro Park ramp off the Sturgeon Bar and took 2 each day. Still using jigs and crawlers but the fishing has slowed down. I do expect the usual increase in walleye action in October. The fish are strong and aggressive. Nobody out??? Even perch fisherman have been absent??? Everybody going hunting?

Sept 23 - Greg Warsow - Saturday, Bob Frank & I headed to Colchester.  Wind SSE 5 to 15 mph, not a bad ride.  Hazy & foggy all day.  Laid right down after we anchored about 9:30 am.  Fished until 10:00 am and caught nothing but silver bass.  Moved about 100 yds & found the perch.  Fished through the silver bass & finished with a 100 perch (a lot of nice jumbos included) at 3:00 pm.  Ride back was better then the ride there.  Did not get rained on once.  Spreaders did better than Bear Claws.  Located just SW of the 1st red buoy at Colchester channel.

Sept.17 -  Mike Zielinski  Went perch fishing this a.m. with son, grandson and neighbor. Anchored in 5 ft. of water about 300 yards northeast of powder island. Too much south wind to get out on the lake. Lots of small fish. Went through about 200 to take home a couple of dozen keepers.

Sept.16 - Sid VanHouten  28" jumbo on a purple spoon & dipsey in the shipping channel just out of the river.  Biggest fish of the year.  :)

Sept.16  - Al Dabrowski  On water at 8Am, fished south end of Amherstburg channel, 2 small mouth bass until 10am.  Then we got 3 eyes between 10 and 11, jigging with chartreuse jig and wyandotte worm.  Waves picked up and we were done for the day.

Sept 16 - Ken StDenis  Friday...pulled worm harnesses around the salt plant and along the east side of fighting island where i picked up one good size walleye. water was too dirty and wind was a problem.  another 10 days could bring walleye into this area in large numbers. good days are ahead.

Sept 16 - Jerry Hinton  Mike Pasik and I fished south of Horse Island, below the Erie Metro Ramp off the Sturgeon Bar in 11-14 fow and caught a 2 man limit and threw back 4 and lost 8??? Chartreuse jigs with an orange flicker blade was the hot ticket. Also a brown worm and nightcrawler. Nice fish in the 18-23" range. Very aggressive and hard-fighting but most were hooked on 4" stinger hooks. Lost a hog at the boat, AGAIN??? This is my favorite time to fish, especially once the hunters hit the woods. It just gets better.

Sept 12 -  Todd Przytula  Handlined Trenton channel Tuesday at the stacks and zig zaging around north of calf for about two hours and got nothing. On way back to take boat out, jigged south of calf island, north west of Celeron and got a 5 pounder, but that's it. Where are all the perch at can anyone help??

Sept 8  - John Sparkman  Thursday,  limit by Detroit Edison, had to work for them 4 on flyntiger 1 on # 7 chartreuse and silver. Leaving for a fun trip to Manistee Lake Be back Sat 16

Sept 6 - David Roussey  Sunday - Fished the "Canoe Hole". Trolled twice with no luck. 3rd pass, drifted down jigging off bottom. Gary (3rd son) brought one nice 'eye to the boat before shaking free. Thanks much for the picture of the "Canoe Hole" found it with no problem. The boys loved it.

Sept 5 - Bill Jenks  Tried to fish the evening bite, but got caught in downpour.WOW!  Could not have gotten wetter if I would have jumped overboard.  Managed to catch one eye, 18", teo throwbacks, onesmallmouth about 4 pounds at Sugar drifting with crawlers. Coast Guard advised me to get off the water due to lightning.  Sounded like a good enough excuse for me to get out of Dodge.  Got home, wife was shaking her head.  Oh well, that's fishing!  Go when you can but be safe!!

Sept. 5 - Greg Warsow  Perch fished Colchester Monday with Bob Frank, John Lewandowski & Al Urche.  Caught 105 with some nice 10 & 12 inchers.  Also caught 4 & 5 lb. smallmouths on a perch pole, now that was fun.  We would of won the bass tournament for sure if we were in one (I know, "Who Cares about bass").  Finally, a great day on the lake after a week high winds.

Sept 5 - Jerry Hinton Fished the lower end of the Trenton channel Monday off Erie Metro along weed lines and took 5 walleye with a 24" included. The fish are getting more aggressive now and fighting harder. Used 3/4oz jig with brown worm and nightcrawler. Not many boats jigging now. Most were out perching closer to Detroit light.

Sept 5 - Sid VanHouten Wasted a bunch of time Monday AM running down toward Colchester only to find all the muddy water that was coming down the river the last few days.   Marked tons of fish, but couldn't get a bite in the soup.  Came back to the vicinity of the "Canoe" late in the day (thanks for the location) and picked up one nice fish on BB.

Sept 5 -Eric Haroldson   Fished Monday with John Bielawski south of the canoe hole.  We fought the weeds and managed to get 5 fish.  We were using bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses (no color was better than others) from 1.1 - 2.2 MPH.  We marked a lot of fish, but just couldn't figure out what they wanted.  Still had a great day on the water!

Sept 3- Mike  Perch fishing is starting to heat up at the mouth of the river. Normal spots around the cross dyke and Sugar Island are productive but you do have to work for them we were out three days last week and took 55 keepers, 122 keepers and 65 keepers average fish 8" but probably 20 that were 12" or above. Good Luck!!

Sept 2 - Kurt Schroeder   Sat 9-2 started at the canoe hole with spinners no fish in an hour weeds weeds weeds weeds ,took off to Colchester picked up 3 nice fish in 21 ft of water gold and clown reef runners one on a chartreuse spoon behind a board fish are starting to school pretty good now water temp is coming down pretty quick the fish are really starting to get aggressive on the Canadian side started trolling at 1.5 didn't pick up a fish until i hit 2.2 2.5 mph a lot of fish suspending due to the water temp dropping.... see ya on the water

Sept 1 - Kurt Schroeder  Friday morning 9-1 10 fish in 2 hours all 18-22 inches really windy fished south end of the canoe hole all on bouncers and spinners thanks for the heads up on the bite out there JOHN B. those fish out there were super aggressive.... thanks DWF

Sept 1 - Greg Warsow - Fished with Bob Frank on Wednesday, jigging.  Pretty windy to say the least.  Glad we were in the river.  Fished for 4 hours at south end of Amherstburg channel, Canadian Coast Guard Station and the Salt Mine docks and all came up empty, not even a junk fish.  Moved to McClouth Steel and picked up 5 eaters in 2 hours,  Chartreuse 1 oz. jig with Wyandotte worm.

Aug  29 - John Bielawski  Here is a great shot of the canoe hole from Dan Boileau's GPS.  Click HERE

Aug  27 - John Bielawski  Saturday, 8/26, spent the morning out in the waters east of Erie Metro Park with Bob Burdick. In a little over 3 hours we boated 12 Walleye, 4 very nice smallies, and one large mouth, all walleye were 17-21 inch and the bass were all over 3 lbs. This is the same area south of the canoe hole. The canoe hole is a small sliver of a hole just south and a little west of Sugar Island. The drift we run is to set up south west of Sugar Island and follow closer to the Canadian line as  in a southerly troll. All fish came on 1.5 bouncers with harnesses. Color was not really a big issue, duller worked best in the cloud cover. If you have not been out there for walleye you should. These fish, once you find them, are very aggressive, pulling back and burying the boards like they are much larger, and giving you a good fight. Weeds were not an issue with the SE wind.
Johnny-B-Good.

Aug 25 -Eric Haroldson  Went out Thursday morning with my neighbor and his 5 year old.  We fished north of the canoe hole (thanks Cleepshaw) in 11-14 FOW.  When we drifted too far south we got into too many weeds and couldn't keep the lines clean.  We marked fish everywhere but couldn't keep the weeds off.  We pulled 2oz BB's with copper and purple blades @ 1.4-1.8MPH.  We caught 9 (8 keepers) in under two hours before the weather forced us off the water.  I've never seen a 5 year old smile so much!

Aug 25 - Sid VanHouten The "canoe hole" is a location that I'm not familiar with.  Could someone clarify the location of this site?  Thanks  Email: sidvanhouten@safebrowse.com

Aug  21 - John Bielawski  Went out Sunday, 8.20, with Cleepshaw, fished south of the canoe hole in 14 FOW. A strong north wind predicated a south drift. Our 2 man limit all came on harnesses and bouncers. We pulled a mixed bag of cranks with no results. All fish in the 16-18 inch range.    Johnny-B-Good.

Aug 19 -John Sparkman  1 person limit Canadian # 50 buoy silver and chartreuse Rapalas

Aug 15 -John Sparkman  3 person limit Canadian below # 50 buoy south end of Boblo, Most on # 7 chartreuse and silver Rapalas

Aug. 16 - Greg Warsow - Fished with Bob Frank Wednesday at the Salt Mine docks jigging.  Two man limit

Aug 15 -John Sparkman  2 person limit by Edison G.S.C. spoons

Aug 12 - Bruce Snyder You do not have to go way out into Lake Erie to catch walleyes! We caught a 2 man limit by 11:00am, using bottom bouncers. We fished several cuts/channels that go from the river out into Lake Erie. This is the 3rd trip in the last 3 weeks that we have limited out in these areas. A bonus is that you also usually catch a few real nice perch.

Aug 9 - Marc Dupuis - Got out Friday evening 8/4 and Monday evening 8/7 after work and jigged up limits both days at Canadian Coast Guard. Too many weeds to hand line, I went to jigs about 3 weeks ago when I finally got too tired lifting and cleaning off my wire and spoons. Was pleasantly surprised at how effective jigging with the weeds turned out to be. Mostly I use chartreuse or black jigs 5/8 or 3/4 with just a worm or plastic and a worm. Must have a piece of crawler on. They are still out there. Saw Sparkman Friday but he cut out just before I got a chance to say hello. Hey John.

Aug 9 - Pat Waite  Went out with Jay and Rick on August 4th and boated a 3 man limit out front of Monroe Edison in 17/18 FOW running BB with harnesses. Wind from the SE water temp 80 deg. A few weeds but not to bad. It was getting reallly hot out there when we came in so I'm glad we got off the water when we did.
"Wishin-Ain't-Fishin!!" Pat

Aug  9 - John Bielawski  Hit the water Saturday morning, 8/5, with Don Viger. Beat our way to Fermi, felt like Saginaw bay, even got a catfish. After 2 hours of junk fish we made our way 1 mile east of the Huron River mouth in 15 FOW and got a 2 man limit in about 3 hours. All on BB and harnesses. It is getting a bit tougher but the walleye are still around. Strong east wind and water temp getting near 80.               Johnny-B-Good.

Aug 6  -"Froggie" Renaud  Went out in the morning about 8:30, we fished out in front of G.I. airport, caught 5 walleyes and a couple of perch with a BB and a harness.  Looks like it might be time for the perch pretty soon.

Aug 6 -Todd Alexander  Friday (8/4) late start hit the water about 8pm.  Didn't boat a fish until I put out a Bomber Long A 50/50 with 1 oz snap weight.  2 walleye before I could get the line out on the board.  Put down some more, and a Pink Lemonade Reef Runner, which accounted for one more fish before the waves picked up and we headed in.

Saturday went out about 4pm with my wife.  Rough ride, but made it to 22 FOW straight east of Sterling.  Decided to try drifting with BB and harnesses.  Fished about 1 hr with nothing to show and the wife started chumming so we headed in.  Not the best report, but that's what we did.

Aug 4 -Larry Schneider Fished Thurs 7am till 11am, sputnic to Rasin River 22fow, 3 man limit, 5 over 8lbs. Lures All little Deep Rippers by reef runner, gold perch, pink lemonade, monkey puke, and red gold clown. 115ft back. speed 1.8 to 2.0 mph!!

July 31 -Todd Alexander  Saturday, fished the evening off Stoney Point, about 2 miles shy of the Ohio line.  Boated 11 eyes between 7pm and sunset, with 2 being throwbacks.  Most of the fish were on spoons and Jet Diver 20's back 50-70' off the big boards.  Waves started around 2' and slowly died down as the eve progressed.  Great night to be on the water.

July 31 -Eric Haroldson  Fished Sunday morning from 7:30-11:30.  We started at the south end of the Banana Dike in 18 FOW trolling spoons.  We caught 2 and weren't marking many fish.  We picked up and moved to out front of Fermi in 20 FOW pulling crawler harness (holographic) at 1.3-1.5 MPH.  We caught 9 more in 2 hours which sounded pretty decent from the radio chatter.  It's definitely slowed down, but you can still get them to bite when you find them.

July 30 - Greg Warsow  I fished Saturday with Bob Frank & John Fulmer.  Winds WSW 5-15 MPH.  Waves 1-3 ft.  NW West Sister Island.  Trolled with nightcrawler harnesses and inline weights.  No change in program from my previous report.  Hard fishing (8:00 am to 1:00 pm) but managed to pick up 14 for the day.  Included was one 6+ pounder and one 5+ pounder.  Good day for us from what I hear.

July 29 -John Sparkman   Friday  4 person limit North of the Detroit lighthouse (spoons flyntiger).  Hey Mike we have so many reports that no is sending em in, this one makes 102  Thursday 2 person limit by Edison (spoons flyntiger)
Many days of limits not reported GOT-CHA!

July 29 - Mark Schaller  This is more of a thank you than a fishing report.  Went out this morning on the river near Belanger Park.  Made one drift and didn't catch anything.  Tried to head back upstream and soon realized that the prop fell of my motor.  Fortunately for me some fellow DWF members were headed upstream and they gave me a tow back into the ramp.  I cannot thank them enough.  If anyone snags a prop for a 1976 20hp Merc drop me an e-mail.....lol

July 24 - Greg Warsow - Saturday - Fished with Bob Frank, Don Kwansy & his friend Dave.  Stoney Point. NNW 10 - 15 mph.  Weeds = Many.  Draggin' meat at 1.6 to 1.9 mph.  27 fow.  First past 9 keepers.  Second pass, nothing.  Struggled from there on out.  Ended up with 12 for a long day.  Wind and weeds sucked.
Sunday

July 19 - Sid VanHouten  Mouth of the Det. river, off Livingston, US water in the lake.  Driving right down the boarder toward the Det. Light.  Five eyes in an hour on dipsy/spoon. Nice smallmouth just about jerked one of my rods into the drink.

July 19 -"Froggie" Renaud  Fish off the end of West Rd. down the center of the channel.  Caught four in a few hours and threw back one.   I was jigging with my usual brown rubber worm and a half nightcrawler.   I'm sure if you stayed long enough you can limit but I was just looking for a few for dinner

July 19 -Mike Barkley Went out with Larry and George Schneider.  Pulled In-line boards near Monroe Edison in 20-22' FOW.  Small Reef Runners on one side, small Rip Shads on the other side 115 to 130 ft back 1.8 to 1.9 mph.  Color didn't seem to matter.  3 man limit in one pass.  Started fishing about 7, netted last one at 9:45.  Only one junker and a couple throwbacks.

July 19 - Pat Waite  Tuesday, took Jay Cappel (Admiral), Rick Elsey (First Mate) and myself the (Captain) and boated 3 man limit in about 4 Hrs. out front of the Monroe Edison in 17 FOW. Used bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses (red/gold and purple/chartreuse) with big boards. The overcast sky and low wind from the NW made for perfect conditions and the water temp at 82*.   "Wishin-Ain't-Fishin"!  Pat

July 18 -John Sparkman  2 person limit Canadian same area same spoons

July 16 -John Sparkman  Limit 6 Canadian side(NO HELPER TODAY)all on flyntiger spoons same area as Sat

July 15 - Larry Ridenour  Fished Au Gres Friday, 8 miles south of harbor in 30 ft. of water. First time for walleye, there. Boated 12 fish with only 2 keepers in 3 hours. Used bottom bouncers for first time, with pa's and harnesses. Purple was best, with red next. Great time with my friend, Frank Schaller. Returned to harbor and found out most fish caught with hot n tots which we had but didn't try this time. great weather. Mich Walleye Tour. there this weekend, watch for results in paper.  Larry

July 15 - Jerry Hinton, Bob Hinton, Mike Pasik and his son Chris fished at the south end of the Banana Dyke in 19 fow and took a 4 man limit using bottom bouncers and harnesses. No favorite colors but the heavier bouncers (3 1/2 oz) did best. there were a couple drift charter boats in there and a small pack of boats. Many were drifting. We trolled at 1.2-1.5 mph and had a great time. Caught a couple jumbo perch (12") too. Good sign for things to come. Weeds were bad so trolling with boards was too much work.

July 15 - Pat Waite  Friday, took Harry Hallmark and Jay Cappel and boated 3 man limit in 4 hours, in front of Monroe Edison in 14/16 FOW pulling bottom bouncers and harnesses with big boards. wind was light from SE then it swung around to come out of NE around noon. Clear sky and very warm. We also took a few nice perch while trolling.
"Wishin-Ain't-Fishin!"  Pat

July 11 -Todd Alexander  Headed out last night with my buddy, his daughter, and my son (6 and 3).
Started slow, but managed to boat 9 walleye and lost 2 more out of Sterling.  4 were throwbacks.  22-23 FOW.  Ran tots, spoons, and harnesses.  Once we got onto fish, they hit everything.  Quite a bit rougher than the forecast predicted.

July 11 - Jerry Hinton  Tom Taylor and I repeated our program of July 8th on Monday.  Out of Toledo beach in 22 fow pulling discs w/spoons on one side and Wiggle Warts on the other. 2-3' waves so we went with them almost due east and took our limit before we had to turn aroung. Great fishery that should stay awile as long as water temp stays below 75 degrees. Cool nights are sure helping that, I think.

July 10 -Todd Alexander  Saturday  PM ran ESE of Sterling 7 miles where I had found fish a week earlier.  Trolled back in with the wind at my back.  Picked up 7 eyes when I hit the 22-23 FOW on the sounder.  Spoons off Jet 20's 55-65 back, color did not matter.  Could have pulled more if I had started in closer, ran out of daylight

July 10 -Eric Haroldson  Went out Sunday morning at 7:30 with my brother-in-law and caught 20 fish ranging from 16"-22" in 3-1/2 hours.  Started trolling a little south of the Banana Dike towards Fermi in 19 FOW.  We picked up 2 fish (one on a spoon and one on a Hot-N-Tot) and then decided it wasn't worth fighting the wind and the waves.  We ran south towards Fermi and drifted at 1.1-1.4 MPH using 2oz bottom bouncers with crawlers.  Color didn't seem to matter.  We caught a bunch of "nuisance fish" but it was worth it with all the walleyes.

July 9 - Roy DeBolt 2 miles out from Fermi 19 FOW.  20 Walleye in 3 hours. 15 - 22 inches. Spinner rigs tipped with crawlers. All colors worked well

July 9 - John Bielawski  Took Pete Miele and Bob Burdick out Saturday. Started out at the Bell Buoy, marked nothing; tried trolling with spoons and harnesses for an hour with nothing. Moved way in to the 19 FOW due east of Fermi and got a 3 man limit in 3 hours, some very nice fish, nothing under 17". Crawler harnesses 45 back with 1.5 oz bouncers and inline boards. This is still a great fishing season, not as fast and furious; but it is the best in a long time.
Johnny-B-Good.

July 9 - Chuck Jones  We went out this morning late & caught half our fish within a 1 hour, the rest came in the next 2 hours.  We caught 3 person limit in the "e" buoy area. Again spoons & mini's 45 feet back in 20-22 feet of water.

July 9 -Bruce Snyder  Fished Friday, July 7th, in front of Lake Erie Metro Park. Caught a limit of walleyes - 18" to 19". I was jigging with either a chartreuse/orange, chartreuse/green, or gold jig and tipped with a crawler. For plastic, the old brown worm worked the best. I fished in front of Celeron and Horse Island. There was a lot of floating grass, but it bothered the handliners and bottom bouncers more then me. Also caught some big Sheepshead, and they were a lot of fun.
GO FISH!

July 8 - Chuck Jones  We went out Sat 7/8 and caught 4 person limit in less than 3 1/2 hours.   We went to "E" buoy and went east to the state line & then turned around and drove back to "E".
We ran spoons and mini's, 45 & 55 ft back in 20/25 FOW.  Confusion, Bloody Nose & Hot Rod were the workers.

July 8 - Jerry Hinton, Tom Taylor and Driver-Dan fished out of Toledo Beach marina this am and took 15 fish in less than 2 hours pulling wiggle warts on one side and disc's/spoons (Confusion and Monkey puke) on the other. Both sides were 80' back on big boards. We were in 21-22 fow due east of Luna Pier. Outstanding conditions and no weeds.

July 8 -Mike Barkley  Butch Chinchak and I started about 7:30 and netted #12 (Canadian 2 man limit) at 10:59.  Five  west side of Fighting Island near south end of Grassy and the rest along the west side of Turkey island.  Backtrolling 3-ways and harnesses with gold blades.  All fish caught in 11 - 13 FOW  The river is FULL of walleye, no need to run out to the lake.

July 4 -Mike Rozewicz   7/3 Mark R. again. 2 stack north  24-25 ft. water disks, jets different spoon colors 3-4 ft. waves out the south, big and small walleye and 3 -drum. 3 MAN LIMIT!   Got LAKE ERIE, THE BEST FISHERY IN THE U.S Happy 4th July!!

July 4 - Greg Warsow  Fished Stoney Point with 3 friends on Monday.  4 fish tickets filled on crawler harnesses in 21 to 24 fow.  SW wind, trolled with wind & waves, picked up 8 fish on first pass up to Banana dike.  Pulled up everything to do again & picked up the other 12.  Trolling with drift bag behind.  Speed 1.6 to 1.9 mph.  Lots of short bites and about 11 fish lost at boat.  Started at 9 am finished at 1 pm.  All harnesses with gold or copper blades.  Gold, Red & Orange beads the best getters.
Best fishin to ya.

July 4 -Mike Barkley  Went out with Butch Chinchak and his granddaughter, Kayla, who caught her first limit!   Started after 8 am and had limit by Noon.  Backtrolling with harnesses on 3-way rigs( Click HERE for rig info/pix).  Used gold or silver #4 blades.  Blade or bead color didn't make any difference.  Most were caught by Buoy 88 (west side of Grosse Isle)  You can access a map of river at the top of this page.  All were caught in 11 to 12' of water

July 4 -Marty Myers  6/29/06-Marty Myers went to the green bell by Fermi on fire out there. Me my 9yr old daughter and her friend had 6 in the boat 15 min never got to set the 4th line.  Dipsey straight out the back 45ft back on zero dips . 2 rods on big boards smaller dips 85ft back. Haven't changed my 4 colors until that day Hottest colors blueberry muffin, brown trout bye far the two best spoons are killerbee and  kevorkian. purple and orange are hot. Clear day 6mi wind from the west 25 fow great day with the kids. Went back to get the sleepyheads out of bed and get more fish. Me the wife and 4 kids 29 fish. Some bigger fish further out 7am-1pm

July 3 -John Sparkman  2 person limit at the Canadian Coast Guard and below G S C and flyntiger

July 3 - Chuck Jones   We went out Monday and set lines @ 3:45 pulled lines @ 7:15.  3 person limit. Spoons again, CONFUSION, HOT ROD & BLOODY NOSE.  Over cast day & thought dark colors would be the answer but not the case.  25 & 35 feet behind 14 feet of water in front of Toledo Beach & Luna Pier water tower
Little larger fish this time/  several small walleyes & a few perch.  1 nice sheep head and a few silver bass just enough to keep the dry spot from driving you nuts.

July 3 - Pat Waite  Took Jay Cappell out for some fishin' time Saturday. We boated 9 walleye in a path between the Toledo light and the Fermi and lost one 20ft from the boat. The wind kept getting worse so we called it a day. There were a lot of white perch and silver bass to deal with and I think we should have been fishing in the shallower water.
"Wishin-Ain't-Fishin" Pat

July 1 - Chuck Jones  Sat morning set lines up @ 7:30 and pulled lines @ 12:15.  Three person limit.  We worked in front of Luna Pier in 14' to 16' of water.  No travel time but slow pickings.  Understand that by Fermi it was a lot better as far as speed.  3 & 1/2 hours 30 fish including travel time??  not bad. We were using spoons & mini's 35 & 45 feet back.  Bloody Nose, Confusion and "hot rod" were the best.  Tried spoon & crank 1 fished caught on the crank.  We ran warts only for a while no fish caught.

July 1 - Jerry Hinton  Mike Pasik and I fished in front of the S. Horse Island stakes and got a two man limit using jigs and brown worms tipped with a crawler. With weather reports talking about high winds today and storms later, we stayed close and saved some gas. Lotsa fish there but you need to deal with weeds

July 1 - John Bielawski Got a ride with Cleepshaw Friday evening. Pulled wire in the channel south of the Canadian Coast Guard. 2 hours to get a 2 man limit on spoons. Sparky's GSC and Stinger Green Clown. As always, thanks Capt. Dan!

June 30 Todd Alexander  Thursday evening out of Sterling State Parke.  Headed ENE to 27 FOW.  Ran spoons testing out my new downrigger setup.  50' behind the ball at 21 and 25' pulled 5 fish in 1.5 hrs.  3 were on perch stinger with copper back, and the other 2 on a 2 color Kervorkian.  Lots of fish marked in that area.

June 30 - Pat Waite  June 28th Leon Weathers and I went out for a few hours in the morning before he had to make his way to work. We boated 8 walleyes out near the Toledo Light running bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses. We ran from Luna Pier towards the Light in 15 to 16 FOW and then turned towards the candle sticks in 18 to 20 FOW. Between the boulder bumpers and those white perch and silver bass we managed to get a few walleye before it was time to head on in. Red and gold along with some purple seemed to do the best for us. We ran some hard bait but only boated one walleye on them. The harnesses were the best producers. We had a 10 MPH wind out of the SW and the skies were clear. Water temp was 76. There were no weeds to contend with and the water was stained but no mud.
"Wishin-Ain't-Fishin"!! Pat

June 29 -John Sparkman  Wed.  2 person limit by Canadian C.G. after storm blew over, flyntiger and gsc spoons

June 27 -  Kurt Schroeder  After the storm  blew out, picked up 12 fish in 2 hours. Kept 2 man limit for the table with one 4 pounder between Detroit light house and the dikes 16-18 ft of water gold spinners behind bouncers

June 26 - Ken Serwatowski  Sunday 06/25/06  South end of Amherstburg channel was loaded, dark green spinners behind bouncers were the trick, we found them a little further into the lake from the pack of main boats after getting tired of jockeying for position , we were all by ourselves closer to the big white buoy which I'm not sure of the name but think it marks the Canadian boundary.  Found a bunch more in 23ft of water between Fermi and the green bell buoy, plenty for limits and catch and release, only boat there, everyone was much further out with a few closer in , gave a holler on 68 when we were heading in but I guess no one believed us because no one headed our way.  I will say you had to shake off two white bass for every walleye but only one walleye was undersize.  Dark green spinners behind bouncers seemed like the only color working  except for a few on my secret blue blade with chartreuse beads, #4 blades and 6ft leads again were the size and length they liked,  Ken

June 26 - Paul Doute  6-25-06 Fished Holiday Beach area in 27ft - 29ft of water. Pulled Mini-dipsy and flutter spoons (Confusion and GSC)- 40 to 60ft behind the inline board with a 6ft lead from the Mini Dipsy. Action was consistent with several doubles. One man limit taken home - ended up landing 28 for 29 walleyes with a single loss at the boat. Very few junk fish. Most of the fish I caught were suspended in the 18 to 20ft range. Lots of clouds of bait in the area. I had a great time tagging up with Greg Warsow and John Lewandowski for a great day of fishing fun! We had a blast!

June 25 - Greg Warsow  Sunday Fished with John Lewandowski.  Same as Saturday, pulled night crawler harnesses (Gold or copper blades - Red, Orange & Yellow beads) with 1.5 oz. inline weights, 80 ft. back at 1.6 to 2.2 mph.  19 to 21 fow. South end of Banana dike to Fermi.    We tried Jets and spoons but they did not produce. 9 fish from 9:30 to 11:30.  Moved to Holiday Beach through a report from Paul Doute who was marking all kind a fish.  Pulled nightcrawlers again in 25 - 28 fow.  All in all for the day, John and I must have caught 50 walleye while picking up a nice 4.25 and 6.25 pounder  during this great day on the water.  Paul estimates he caught 30 fish by himself for the day.  Nice to catch and release.  Great Day on the Water.

June 25 - John Bielawski Was the guest of Don Viger for a Sunday evening of handlining in the southern mouth of the Amherstburg channel. Took a little coaxing but managed a 2 man Canadian limit, mostly 16-19 in., in about 2.5 hours. No luck with the flyntiger but the GSC was working along with watermelon scorpion stingers. Good news is we had our share of throw backs, looking good for next year too.
Johnny-B-Good

June 25 - John Bielawski  Took out my wife for a ride Saturday around noon. Can't just ride around all day so I set out 2 lines with spoons and divers. Got 3 fish in front of Fermi, 20 FOW, on one pass before she got bored. All came on Sparky's GSC 50 back. In case you have not seen Mike Zielinski's News Herald article on Sparky, 6/25, pick up the downriver paper, Mike does Sparky justice. Great article guys.

June 24 - Sid VanHouten  Interesting Sat morning at the mouth of the river.  Got out about 7am.  One quick fish.  Headed toward the lake looking for more fish...nothing.   Turned around headed back toward Erie Metro.  Got on some fish and picked up three nice fish in about 45 min, then they shut off like a light bulb.  I was pulling dipsy/spoon setups.  Light colors caught the fish early.  Tried every spoon in the box after 9am, but couldn't buy the 5th fish.  Had to get in early, so I quit at 10.

June 24 - Greg Warsow   Saturday Fished with Bob Frank.  2 man limit caught from 8:30 11:30 am.  Pulled night crawler harnesses (Gold or copper blads - Red' Orange & Yellow beads) with 1.5 oz. inline weights, 80 ft. back at 1.6 to 1.9 mph.  19 to 21 fow. South end of Banana dike to Fermi.  Not as fast and furious like last weekend but steady

June 24 -Chuck Jones We set lines @ 8:00 and pulled them @ 11:30. Fished in front of Toledo Beach & a little north of that. 16-18 feet of water. Both sides of the boat worked well (?) one side was 50 feet and the other was 35. Minis & spoons. bloody Nose, Confusion (Mich Stingers ) and Hot Rod (Wolverine). Bigger class of fish than earlier this year.

June 22 Todd Alexander  Evening:  Picked up 5 eyes (2 shorts) along Great Lakes Steel in 30 FOW.  1 jigging, rest handlining.  Spoons and cranks with yellow caught fish.

June 22 -John Sparkman  3 person limit by Canadian Coast Guard all on new color spoon (flyntiger)

June 21 -Frank Manning  Fished by the steel mill, 4 eyes 1 jigging and the other 3 while pulling bottom bouncers with Green bladed crawler harness. all fish where caught in 16'-20'FOW, the fish where between 16"-20".

June 20 -Marc Dupuis  - Marc Dupuis Limit in front of Duffy's and CCG, 4 PM. Took a friend out and finished up in the evening 7:30 to 9:30 at north end of Livingstone Channel, just upstream from white lighthouse. Sparky's GSC and anything with lots of chartreuse in it. Both areas producing. All fish 16-18". I 7# sheepshead that really had my attention until I saw the whites of his eyes.

June 20 -John Sparkman  Limit 2 person by Canadian Coast Guard spoons flyntiger (New color)

June 1 9 -Bruce Snyder  Fishing on the 16th, 4 guys, 2 boats, fishing in front of the Lake Erie Metro Park, we all limited out by noon. We were using bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses; the hot color of the blades were gold or chartreuse. Several eyes measured 23inches.

June 1 9 -Chuck Jones Father's Day we went out in front of Luna Pier Same as Sat.  Although in 14-16 feet of water.  Most fish were just "keeper" size. Have caught bigger fish @ Fermi??

June 19 -  Cleepshaw (Dan Boileau)  Easy limits Friday evening and Sunday morning hand-lining with spoons below the Canadian Coast Guard Station. 12 Friday and 18 Sunday in less than 2 hours. Not many weeds or much fishing pressure either outing. GSC, Perch and Watermelon colors all worked well.

June 18 -Eric Haroldson  Out early Sunday morning with my neighbor. Left the Metro Park at 7:00 and pounded our way through 1'-2' waves (thanks NOAA... more like 2'-4') out to Fermi. Fished 18'-20' of water pulling spoons on mini disks 55' back. Got 8 keepers on the first pass and turned around to finish our 2-man limit by 8:15. The action was so fast we couldn't get all four lines in the water before we were reeling in another fish. Absolutely unbelievable right now! Anything purple with a copper back. We caught over 20 keepers before heading back to the dock.

June 1 7 -John Sparkman  Limit 2 person banana dyke w/friend. All fish on spoons

June 1 7 -John Sparkman  2 person limit Friday. Canadian Coast guard station w/Mike Zielinski

June 1 7 -Chuck Jones  We fished in front of Luna Pier caught a 4 person limit. Mini & spoons on the big boards. 35 feet back, 14-16 feet of water.  Confusion Bloody nose and Hot Rod were the 3 best colors.

June 17 -Eric Haroldson  Went out mid-morning with my wife and little boy.  Fished out front of Fermi in 18'-20' of water.  Got 3 nice fish and one throw back on the first pass using spoons on mini disks 50'-60' back.  Anything purple with a copper back was hot and I heard Wonder Bread was doing pretty good also.  Unfortunately, the flies were biting as hard as the fish and my wife had enough.  Next time I'll bring some bug spray and finish the limit!  Going back on Sunday morning with my neighbor to try again.

June 16 - Jerry Hinton  Mike Pasik and I,  along with youngsters Carson and Connor did some pre-tournament fishing in front of Fermi. Caught our 20 fish in less than 2 hours on a variety of blades and bouncers. No color was better. No biggies but some 3-31/2lbs in the box. Weather tomorrow should be hot and windy. Thank goodness we can start early and be done early. Good luck to all the "Kids"!!!!!!!

June 16 - Vince Bellottie  6/15/06-Fished out from Fermi in 25 FOW. Pulled a nice size 2 man limit in no time at all. Bouncers and crawlers, blue/silver and purple/silver blades. Should be a great kids tournament this weekend.

June14 - John Lewandowski  with Greg Warsow fished the river, 9 keepers with lots of misses past Ambassador Bridge near red buoy and fuel docks.  Need less wind with lighter jigs for better hook ups.

June 15 - Ken Serwatowski  As many fish as you care to catch in front of Fermi, limit for as many guys as you can put in your boat.  Bouncers and spinners #4 blades chartreuse and dark green seem to be working the best.  Found some really nice ones yesterday, several 5lb class fish with one 8lbr 20ft of water straight out from the stacks.  Not sure what brought the bigger fish in but they were there yesterday Wednesday 06/14/06,  15 fish in 2hrs,  Ken

June 15 - Dan Czeski  Wednesday, fished Brest Bay north of the point, 22'-25' slow troll 1.0-1.5 mph with harnesses, spoons and a small crank on a diver. Caught 8 keepers. A nice evening out on the lake with the family.

June 14 - Pat Waite  Tuesday (13th)Fished with Jay Cappel and Harry Hallmark out from Fermi in 26 to 27 FOW pulling harnesses on bottom bouncers with big boards. took a three man limit in 3 hours. Again the weather was perfect and the wind was low. a lot less salad out there and we had some nice eaters for the day. as for color we used some red and gold and some purple and purple. The fish don't seem to favor one or the other.
"wishin-Ain't-Fishin!!"  Pat

June 14 - Al Dabrowski  On water at 7AM, fishing Trenton channel at West rd. Had our limit by 10:30. All caught on crawler harnesses with purple blades. Most in the 2 to 3 lb. range. Threw several marginal ones back. Lost one monster at the boat.

June 13 -"Froggie" Renaud  Went out this morning at the foot of West Rd. west side of the channel jigging with a half nightcrawler.  Two man limit in a couple of hours, threw back a few big ones and also lost a half dozen about half way up.  When i got in I sharpened hooks.  Highlight was a salmon my neighbor had on right to the boat before it got off, 6 lber?  Great time and great fishing this year

June 13 -  Mike Rozewicz  Just like the rest,  team M&M again Mark Rapston, and I  Banana dike 19-24 ft, water pulled spoons different colors and mini- disks, jet divers, great seas 1ft. or less with sun screen to top it off.  2 limits.  Could have gone home, but we soaked up time telling fish story's, man them WALLEYES melt in you mouth with the rod in your hand.

June 13  -  Todd Alexander  Fished out of Sterling Friday evening and Saturday morning.  Pulled 6 fish in 1 hr on Friday and 13 fish in 6 hrs on Saturday.  Only caught 1 sheep and 2 silvers both days.  19-20 FOW east of Sterling pulling HotnTots.  3.5 mph + on the GPS kept us in fish and out of trash.

June 12 - Pat Waite   Fished with Rick Elsey and had a two man limit out from Fermi in 24 to 25 FOW, Pulled harnesses with crawlers and bottom bouncers. Plenty of fish out there with some nice ones as well. red with gold blades worked best for us but other colors also produced well. With the warmer water, 70 degrees and up, the Sheepshead are getting more active now so we just have to work around that. I haven't had to do as many reports this year because so many others are fishing the same waters as I am but I have had full limits every time out this year and I believe everyone else is too. It's a great season for all!!
"Wishin-Ain't-Fishin" Pat

June 12 - Greg Warsow  Sunday 06-11-06 Hand lined with Burt Parker 5:30 to 9:30 pm.  McLouth steel and the free bridge.  Rapala Fire Tiger jointed and small black spoon with red and chartreuse dots.  10 keepers with a couple of nice size fish included.  A little nippy last night but this weeks weather should stabilize everything and make the fishing that much better if that is possible.  Later to All.

June 12 - Greg Warsow  Saturday 06-10-06 Fished with Bob Frank & John Lewandowski.  Caught 30 fish for the day and had our 3 man limit by 11:30 am.  Pulled night crawler harnesses with 1 to 2 oz. inline and snap weights, 80 ft. back at 1.8 to 2.2 mph.  19 to 21 fow in morning then move to 23 to 25 fow in the afternoon.  Pump house of Banana dike to Fermi.  A lot of 3-4 pounders.  Great day & great company.

June 12 -  Cleepshaw (Dan Boileau)  AGAIN - Scorpion spoons on mini disks 40 to 60 feet benind the boards. 19 to 21 FOW between the B-Dike and Fermi. Over 20 fish Friday evening and over 30 Sunday morning. 1.9 to 2.3 MPH. From talking to others I believe this program is quite a bit more productive than pulling meat in that area the past few days.  Tight Lines -

June 12 - Chuck Jones  Sunday afternoon went out in front of Fermi caught 4 person limit.  Once we found the pattern wasn't bad but had a little trouble finding them.   Lots of boats scattered not a tight pattern at all.  We fished 20-22 feet of water.  60' back with Michigan Stingers & mini.  Confusion, bloody nose, best colors, purple was also a good color.

June 11 - Mike Barkley   Fished with Ron Barry in the afternoon.  Pulled crawler harness with 1 oz. in-line weights and Berkley Gulp 6" crawlers 35' back in 26' FOW 1.9mph out from Holiday Beach. Took 12 (Canadian limit) in 2 passes.  It was unbelievable!!  We culled for awhile and then just Catch & Release.  They were coming to fast to keep count.  Mostly Firetiger blades, but didn't seem to make any difference.  Great Day!!!!!!

June 11 - Al Dabrowski  Fishing with Jim Devidts  Sunday morning June 11th, on water at 7:30 am fishing Trenton channel between West Rd. and the old closed Trenton hospital.  Two man limit by 10am, jigging with chartreuse jigs and brown worms and then drifting with crawler harnesses, gold blade with red beads.  Most all were in the 2 to 3 lb. range.  Caught 4 marginal, just barely 15 in. and put them back for next year. Used Mike Barkley method of keeping crawlers in water and ice, worked like a charm.

June 10 - Sid VanHouten  5 nice fish from 8am-10:30 just off the Metro park channel, s of Celeron.  Light colored spoons and orange flatfish pulling wire.

June 9 - John Bielawski   My friend Cleepshaw calls them "WEATHER GUESSERS", that would be the forecasters on the Marine Radio last night, Thursday, 6/8. Dropped lines around 5:00 and had 6 in the box by 6:00. Those guessers were talking about a storm in Marine City and fair skies over Lake Erie as we were running hard to beat rain, thunder and lightning near Fermi. Not sure what radar they had on but it closed out our night. All fish in 19 FOW on stinger spoons 55 back with mini-discs. Still a very strong bite. Johnny-B-Good.

June 8 -Mike Barkley  John Lewandowski went out about 4:30 in the afternoon Thursday and fished in front of the whiskey plant and by the Ambassador bridge and picked up 8 walleye and 4 Humungous Sheepshead (the other white meat)  all on jigs with brown rubber worms in 35 to 38'  I had something peel off over 100 yards of braid before it got to the backing and broke off!

June 7 -Eric Haroldson  I got out Tuesday morning from 8:30-12:00 and caught 20 keepers in front of te Banana Dike in 14'-16' of water.  I caught the majority of them trolling a chrome and blue back Hot-n-Tot with a red lip at 2.0 MPH 60' back.  They were biting on everything though.  I caught them on a spoon (silver and blue), Smithwick  Rattlin' Rogue (silver and black), Rip Shad (chrome and blue), Deep Little Ripper (cheap sunglasses).  It didn't seem to matter what you put in front of them.  Most of the fish were 17"-20" with a couple over 3lbs.  If you're trying to knit a sweater you're in luck... there was plenty of cotton on the water to stick to your line!  Other than that, the weeds weren't a problem.

June 6 -  Cleepshaw (Dan Boileau) We got out again last night (Tuesday) and fished the same areas between the Banana Dike and Fermi - 19' to 21' of water. Copper backed Stinger Scorpions on Big Jon mini disks 40' to 60' behind the boards. 35 fish in 2.5 hours. Awesome bite right now - best it's been in a number of years.

I do have to concede victory to "Team Glitter" in the "Big Fish" bet we had on. I'm sure they were just lucky but I'm still stuck with a dinner bill at Famous Daves. That sux!

June 6 - Jerry Hinton  Mike Pacik and I fished the south end of the banana Dyke 12-16 fow last evening from 6:00 til about 8:30. Got a two man limit and missed 4 others at the boat. The wind was a real issue and lotsa weeds. Gave up using boards and just slow-trolled crawler harnesses with BB's. Copper w/red beads was best. This fishery is really great. All the fish were 16'-19'.

June 6 - Chuck Jones  Tuesday evening went straight out from Luna pier.  17 to 21 feet of water almost straight out.   We caught our limit ( 3 people).  We ran Michigan Stingers, Bloody nose & Confusion worked best. We used "big" boards Ran the limes 50& 60 behind.   Boat control was real hard My partner Bob did a great job

June 6 - Todd Alexander   Fished out of Wyandotte on 6/5 in the evening.  Picked up 4 jigging in front of the steel mill above Mudd Island.  Switched to handlining and picked up 2 more eyes on a pink Reef Runner Little Ripper, and a 8.5# sheep on a clown pencil plug.  Beautiful night to be on the water.

June 6 - Ken Serwatowski  Monday,  Caught 30 walleyes, 15 south of Stoney Point, and the second 15 in front of Fermi.  All keepers 15 to 22inches.  Slow crawling chartreuse spinners behind bouncers #4 blades, solid was best but any mix with green produced as well.  Moving just fast enough to get blade spinning, all caught in 20 to 23ft of water, deeper water bigger fish and less white bass.

June 5 - Brian Wilcox  Fished the middle of the banana dyke. We had a 3 man limit in 3 hours and only caught 2 under sizes fish. All on bottom bouncers, black and gold  and green and orange. Its nice to have fishing like this in our backyards.

June 5 - John Bielawski  Took my neighbors Kathy and Gary out Sunday morning, south banana dyke, 12-14 FOW. 15 eyes in under 2 hours, copper back Stinger spoons 55 back on mini-discs. Also pulled chrome Hot-n-Tots 55 back on inline boards. Turned out Kathy was one heck of a fishing partner, forgot my pliers and she removed a fully swallowed Hot-n-Tot from a 3 pounder with her fingers. Best walleye fishing in many years, get out there and hook a few!!!
Johnny-B-Good.

June 5 -  Frank Turski  Fished Saturday morning (6/3) at the Raisin River channel.  Took a two man limit in a couple hours trolling bottom bouncers & crawler harnesses.  Copper blade was best color.
Fished Sunday afternoon in the same area that Cleepshaw fished in the morning.  Two man limit again in a couple hours, this time on spoons.

June 4 -  Cleepshaw (Dan Boileau)  Fished Saturday morning, and again Sunday morning. Off the water by lunchtime both days.  We pulled copper backed Scorpion spoons on Big Jon minis 50' back in 19-20 fow, then Hot-n-Tots 40' to 65' back in 14 to 16 fow. All on S end of Banana Dike. We caught close to 60 eyes over the two days. Better fish seemed to come Sunday with lots of 18 to 20 inchers and 2 over 4 pounds.

The fishery we have here is truly a blessing. Let's take care of it!

June 4 - Al Dabrowski   Fished with Jim Devidts, Trenton channel in area of West Rd.  Started at 8AM using chartreuse jigs with brown worms, tipped with small live worm.  Got 8 keepers by 10 am.  Lost two at boat.  Most caught in 17 ft.  Things got slow around 10;30, fished till noon, caught two undersize and then we quit for the day.

June 3 - Jerry Hinton  Mike Barkley, Mike Pasik and Tom Taylor and I fished the Michigan Steelheaders Region 3 tournament today. Left out of Toledo Beach Marina and fished in 20'-22' 3-4 miles east of Toledo light. Using reef-runners 80'-100' back on big boards we caught 15 in the first 2 hours of fishing and nothing but silver bass the rest of the time. Wind shifted and laid down and the fishing just shut off. Mike Barkley is still not convinced that lake trolling is better than river jiggin'!!!!!!! It's hard to change as we get older, hahaha!  (Good but not as much fun!!!, Mike)

June 2- Jerry Hinton  Fishing with Mike Barkley and Tom Taylor took a 3-man limit off the Banana Dyke, from the gray pump-house south to the pipes trolling hot-n-tot's (purple, pink and rainbow)80'back. Started about 10:00am amd trolled til about 2:00pm using big boards. Water depth 12'-14' was best. Out further weeds were an issue.

June 1-"Froggie" Renaud  Fished off the foot of West Rd. again this morning with a buddy.  We limited out in a few hours then fish catch and release.   Leadhead jigs with a half nightcrawler, no rubber worms just the crawler.  Fished the eastside edge of the channel.

May 31-"Froggie" Renaud  Went out about 8:30 am and was in before 10:00 am with my limit.  Fished right in front of my condo at the foot of West Rd out in the center of the channel.  The handliners have been out there for the last couple of days and now I know why.  I was the only boat jigging, 3/4 oz jig with a brown rubber worm tip with a piece of crawler fed up the remaining exposed hook, no stinger.  All 15" to 16"

May 30 -Tony McKheen Sunday - May 28 - Fished just north of Fermi.  14-16 ft water, Trolled Crawler Harness w/ bouncers behind boards or straight back from boat.  No certain color.  9 eyes.  Tried deeper or cranks and got nothing, they wanted the harness.  Wouldn't even take a harness with powerbait.  Great day on the water!  Sorry a little late.

May 30 -Eric Haroldson Friday (5/26) - Went out after work and fished the east side of Celeron with 2oz bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses in 10-14 FOW.  Picked up 4 fish between 4:30 and 7:30.  My friend hooked a 20# carp in the dorsal fin when we dropped the first line.  That took ~15 minutes to land.  I looked down his mouth for a tattle tale flag John (see May 13 report) but didn't see one!

May 30-John Bielawski  Fished the south end of the banana dyke near the tubes on Monday, 5/29, with Eric Haroldson. Found bigger fish (3-4 lbs.) in less numbers in 18-20 FOW, Smaller fish (1-2 lbs.) were stacked near the dyke in 10-12 FOW. All fish came on Hot-n-Tots 55-75 ft back on boards. Fermi waters turning on big time.

May 30 - Marc Dupuis  Got a lot of fishing credits watching the grandchildren and cashed them all in this weekend, fished all 3 days. Saturday 5/27 got out at 2PM after working on boat and looked all over, finally 5 all right in front of Wyandotte BASF sign, most in middle of channel, all 15-17", playing chicken with the cruisers, Sparky's GSC. Sunday, no fish at BASF today, but got 7 in channel just north of downtown Trenton. Again on the GSC. Monday, two man limit, few at the Sugar Island cut and rest in front of downtown Trenton on the edge of the channel, again, all on the GSC. One 22"er, and cried like a baby when I lost a 24"er at the boat.

May 29 - Greg Warsow   Saturday 5/27/06 - Fished with John Fulmer, but he didn't troll too well.  I think his spinner blade was on backwards, ha!  Changed all poles to red beads with gold blade harnesses with 2 oz. inline weight, 100' back on big boards.  Caught 20 and kept a two man limit in the 20 inch range.  15 to 20 ft of water, SE Luna Pier.  What a GREAT Day!!!!

May 29 - Bill Jenks    Sunday 10pm till 2:30am pulled wire with brother-in-law, John.  We had to work hard for our fish.  Caught seven eyes, mostly eaters with one about 3 lbs.   We fished between the two bridges in Trenton channel. Found fish in 25 FOW.  Marked fish all over the river.  Caught about 30 silvers.  We caught our fish on #9 & 11 Raps. I  Tried  pencil plugs with no luck.  Water was flat, probably needed a little chop to turn fish on.  Still had a great time fishing with John.  Not only is he my fishing buddy, he is my best friend.  Take time to take a friend or family member fishing.  Have a good time fishing and good luck.

May 27 - Pat Waite  Took Jay Cappel (the admiral) and me (the Captain) and fished the area North of the dumping grounds by the Toledo light in 14 FOW. Using big boards and bottom bouncers with crawler harnesses, Red w/ gold blade and Chartreuse w/gold blade. We finished with a two man limit. All the fish were just eater size. It was a perfect day on the water and Jay was really happy to be out there fishing. I was too for that matter.

May 22  -  Cleepshaw (Dan Boileau)  We went out of Wyandotte Saturday morning at about 7:30 (me and Pete) and had our limit (12)jigging at the front of Fighting Island by 9:30. We stayed inside (East) of the yellow buoys in about 28 to 30 FOW and drifted right past the Club on the North end of the Island. Brown worms, purple worms and green Fin-S minnows all worked.

We went out on the Lake Saturday evening but had a lot less success. We pulled spoons and "Tots" in front of Swan Creek, first in about 15 FOW, then further out in 19-20 FOW. We only caught a couple of eyes between many-many silvers, but we weren't keeping them anyway so not too disappointed

May 21 -Eric Haroldson  Went out Saturday (5/20) from Bolles Harbour with John Bielawski at 8:30am.  We fished the Dumping Grounds pulling spoons and inline spinners on Mini Disks and Jets.  We got one on a Copper Kevorkian.  We moved closer to shore towards Toledo Beach in 17 FOW and found the fish.  We finished with a 2-man limit using 2oz bottom bouncers and inline spinners drifting at ~1.4 MPH.  All the fish were 16"-19".  We were fishing the dirtier water ~1-2 miles from shore.  If we were catching silver bass we had to move farther out to get into the walleyes.  A great day on the water and a great day of fishing on my birthday!  Thanks for coming along John.

May 20 - Jerry Hinton- Jerry Hinton and Mike Pacik got out about 8:30 am and fished off Horse Island. Started at the "dead tree" and drifted down to the Erie Metro Park ramp channel. Caught a 2 man limit in about 2 1/2 hours using jigs with brown worms tipped with live crawlers and stinger hooks. Bite was fast and many misses. Silver bass weren't too bad that far south in the channel and until the wind came up, it was about perfect drifting. Not many boats around

I fished the north end of Mud Island between the 2 sets of buoys and then later in the nearby deeper water. All but one came on a stinger, was using minnows and chartreuse/lime jig and brown worm. One walleye went 22 inches.
To top the day off I called the RAP Line on a fishermen who I observed boat 8 walleyes and who knows how many he actually had.  I talked to a Conservation Officer who said they arrested 3 guys last week with 90 walleyes (that's 15 limits!!), and they have also caught some fishermen keeping sturgeon. Its our resource and lets help protect it, get an MC number of those taking advantage of the resource and turn them in!

May 17-"Froggie" Renaud I didn't get out till noon (Wed) but had my limit in a hour, all 15" to 16".  Down the center of the channel in front of McLouth Steel.  Using a 5/8 oz white jig head with a shortened brown rubber worm tipped with a piece of crawler feed up the rest of the uncovered hook, no stinger hook, water was fairly clear which surprised me after all the rain this past week

May 17-Mike Barkley  Fished with Art Yaccick & Rich "Ski".  3 man limit by 1:00 . 9 between the Fighting Island Semaphore and red buoy 98.  6 between Bob-Lo dock and Corps of Engineers.  ALL on brown rubber worms and most on stinger hooks.  All caught in 30 to 34 FOW.  5 fish in ONE pass by Bob-Lo dock and Corps of Engineers.

May 13-John Bielawski  This report is regarding the poor judgment of a Down River Walleye fisherman. Saturday, May 13, I was fishing with Bob Burdick in the Ford Yacht Club Channel. After hanging up on the bottom with my bouncers off planer boards a couple time, I had a board pull back and bury just like before. I tightened my line to pull it loose and asked Bob, “is the boat stopped?” as I was not loosing line. To which he replied “no”. Without processing that response I proceeded to break off my line, which broke at the rod, This left the inline board attached to the bait side of the line. As we turned the boat around to retrieve the board, it went under as it was being pulled by a large fish. My fishing skills were undermined by my thoughts of the earlier snags. The board never came up and after an hour or so of periodically checking, we can only assume that a large fish has taken to a deep hole with by bouncer, crawler harness and planer board. So if any of our fellow walleye fishermen happen to encounter a right side board in that area of the lake, it may still be attached to what one can only imagine as a large, walleye, sturgeon, or catfish, even Moby Dick. The lesson here is that we need to listen to the little fishing voice inside all of us and not what we have encountered previously. My mistake has left me in wonder as to what and how big that fish was that is now the proud owner of my planer board. – John Bielawski – Johnny-B-Good.

May 11 -Eric Haroldson  Went fishing with John Bielawski on the Johnny-B-Good Tuesday and turned a slow start into a 2-man limit.  We started trolling bottom bouncers with crawlers harnesses in front of Lake Erie Metropark.  We couldn't keep the silver bass off the hook(s).  We made one pass and caught at least 40 of them.  We moved to fish the West side of Celeron and caught one (16").  We moved again to the Ford Yacht Club Channel and the fun began!  All the fish ranged between 15"-19".  We caught them on holographic blades and 2oz bottom bouncers in 10-13 FOW.  Thanks for a great trip John!  I'll get that trolling plate on the boat and we'll take mine next time.

May 10 - Larry Schneider  Fished Wed 6:30 am till 1:00pm 2 man limit, 15-18 inches, 7 by the Rencen hole, 2 by Ft Wayne, last by Mud Isl.  Chartreuse and the Wyandotte worm!!

Ya gotta love that part of Lake Erie in the Spring!

May 7 - Pat Waite   May 5th, Harry Hallmark and I went out with his rig around the Toledo Light and fished with bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses trolled with big boards. We limited out by 1:30pm after picking up the first one at 11:am. It took some time to find the fish but it was easy after that. We trolled just North of the dumping grounds from the light back towards Luna Pier in 13 to 16 FOW. Used red-gold and chartreuse harnesses with fat crawlers. 1.3 to 1.6 MPH. Went with the wind which was very low and easy with a small chop. All the fish were eaters. I'm doing report for Harry , He had to get ready for a trip.

Feb 2 - Jigafish To all, stay off the Humbug docks.  They will kick you out!  Take your boat if you want to get the big ones.  I was fishing from the docks and from my boat.  Limit every day, all 8 to 12 inches, but stay off the docks.
